Referrals

No young person is accommodated without the existing residents knowing and without them being able to express their views on the referral. Following an initial enquiry we would request latest reports and assessments on the young person. As a means of promoting best practice no young person will be offered a place unless a pre-admission assessment and impact risk assessment is undertaken, which ensures that the young person's views are taken in to account. This can be completed in twenty-four hours if necessary.

Ideally we would visit the young person in their present placement before inviting them to visit the unit to meet the other young people and staff. The referred young person would generally be greeted with a welcoming tea made by the other residents, although in some cases this is not always possible. We would like to visit the young person in their existing placement as a minimum. Although we don't take emergencies we can visit within twenty-four hours.
